Make no mistake, the “Syrian Revolution” is a US-led regime change operation, carried out with the assistance of Israel and Türkiye.
Whilst expressing their delight at the overthrow of the legitimate government of Syria, the US is being careful not to implicate itself in the rise of Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a viciously sectarian terrorist group.
However, in truth, the US is up to its ears in this regime change operation, and has been since the very beginning.
Under the Timber Sycamore Program, the CIA funneled vast quantities of weapons and funds to assorted “rebel” groups. The bulk of these groups seamlessly merged into Al-Nusra Front, which seamlessly morphed into HTS.
The weapons being fired in Syria right now were provided by the CIA, with the documented assistance of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye and Jordan.

The US always aimed for some level of plausible deniability, limiting its public support to “moderate rebels”, but the battlefield reality is that there has been no meaningful distinction between “moderate rebels” and murderous sectarians.
The US and Israel have carried out innumerable airstrikes against Syrian military facilities in order to weaken and destabilise the Syrian state.
Meanwhile the illegal sanctions imposed by the US and EU have had a disastrous effect on the Syrian economy, including a massive drop in oil revenues (not helped by the thousand US troops in Northeast Syria actively stealing Syrian oil), isolation from the international banking system, and high inflation, all having a direct impact on people’s quality of life.
And of course now the imperialist and zionist criminals can’t contain their joy at the tragic turn of events. In the coming weeks and months, the Western media will gleefully legitimise a “democratic transition” involving the total dismantling of Syria’s social system, which has long been characterised by tolerance and inclusion; a system where the rights of all religious communities were observed and where women’s rights were protected.
The main “democratic right” that has been won is Israel’s right to expand its genocidal wars against Palestine, Lebanon and Iran, without having to worry about weapons being supplied via Syria to the forces of resistance.
